Dear parents and families,
Last week I was delighted (and a little relieved) to welcome Mr Joshua Webb to the primary school teaching team. Joshua is New Zealand born and comes to us with a wealth of knowledge, skills and ways of working with students, which are a huge asset to our primary school. Joshua will value add to our International English Language program by providing Science and Technology lessons to our students. Joshua will also work across the primary school in providing an internationalised music program. He is a talented musician and singer. Joshua has written his own English music and is keen to share his talents with all our students. Mr Webb is keen to meet all primary school students, their parents and families.
This month the primary school is focussing on continuous teaching and learning improvement. School Leaders are continually working with all teachers to ensure we a providing your children with a quality teaching and learning environment. Our teaching improvement process involves classroom observations, providing critical feedback, identifying areas of strengths and weaknesses and providing a rigorous professional development plan for our staff. I am always pleased and proud of the work I observe in all classes across the primary school. All primary school staff are dedicated, hard working and highly focussed on improving the learning outcomes of your children.
Another focus of ours has been on school uniform. School uniform is an important part of the Haileybury International School Tianjin teaching and learning philosophy. Our students should proudly and positively wear their uniform each and every day. The school uniform shows our community we are a great, vibrant and distinguished school. When on excursions, our uniform also provides our staff with an easily and effective way of identifying who and where our students are. Safety is paramount at our school. Please ensure that your child is appropriately uniformed.
Again, thank you for the wonderful and positive contributions you make to our primary school. We enjoy seeing and working with you on creating the best possible education for your child. We are very much looking forward to seeing you and your families this Children’s Day Festival. I look forward to again talking with you about our great school and celebrating with the students their happy Children’s Day.
At Haileybury, every child matters, every day.
Mr Greg Alksne
