Salary range                               Competitive Remuneration Package comprising salary plus allowances.


Overview 

Haileybury Tianjin is uniquely placed to offer the Australian Curriculum to its students in China. Teachers at Haileybury Senior School Tianjin (HSST) work within a team of international and bilingual staff to deliver a rigorous Australian curriculum offering that is well supported by Haileybury in Melbourne and Darwin.

Our teachers have the opportunity to contribute positively to the innovative and creative delivery of curriculum in a unique cross-cultural environment.

Graduates of Haileybury Senior School are issued an Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranking on completion of their course, providing a pathway to Australian and overseas universities.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from Senior School (Year 10 – 12) teachers in the following subject areas:
  • Chemistry,

  • English as an Additional Language; and,
  • Mathematics


Teaching & Learning

• Demonstrate strong pedagogical understanding and working knowledge of subject specific content within curriculum area/s.

• Actively support and implement ‘The Brilliant Series’; Haileybury’s approach to building quality pedagogy and teaching practice across our school. With specific focus on:

     o Purpose: conduct well-prepared lessons with clear learning intentions that articulate what students should know, understand and be able to do by the end of the learning period.
     o Feedback: provide prompt, balanced and actionable formal and informal feedback to students through a variety of assessment procedures and forms that is designed to continuously dirve students’ performance towards learning goals.
     o Differentiation: proactively adjust teaching and learning methods to accommodate each child's learning strengths and needs to achieve maximum growth as learners.
     o Collaboration: facilitate collaborative and engaging learning enrironments in partnership with colleauges.
     o Assessment for Learning: apply a range of formative assessment techniques and strategies that allow for an adaptive and responsive approach to teaching and learning.
     o Metagocnition: utilise strateiges including Visibe Thinking Routines, reflection and goal setting to help students become more aware of their thinking and learning patterns.


Curriculum Responsibilities

• Demonstrate an understanding of the Australian Curriculum Standards in specific subject area/s.
• Engage in the sharing and development of teaching resources, including lesson plans and assessment materials.
• Design curriculum activities and assessments that promote the development of students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills within subject area.
• Collaborate with colleagues to collect and analyse student performance data to inform ongoing curriculum planning.
• Participate in and contribute to cross-marking of student work to ensure consistency and ongoing development of teaching and learning resources.
• Plan for and engage with technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences.


Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain records of classroom attendance.
• Maintain student feedback and reporting in accordance with School policy.
• Manage reporting and feedback data to share with students and parents through Parent/Teacher interviews
• Attend and contribute to staff meetings and departmental meetings as required.
• Keep abreast of, and adhere to, school procedures and policy updates relating to curriculum, students welfare and the safeguarding of children.


Co-curricular and Community

• Support the aims and ethos of the School.
• Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
• Attend and contribute to school events, Open Days, excursions, promotional events and assemblies.
• Actively participate in the School’s co-curricular and extra curricular programs.
• Actively engage in the professional development and learning program.
• Undertake rostered supervisory duties outside of the classroom and exercise responsibility for the welfare of students.
• Supervise preservice student teachers as required.
• Act as a mentor for staff members as required.


Academic qualifications

• Registration as a teacher in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada, Eire, the USA or equivalent internationally recognised teacher registration.
• Relevant undergraduate degree in teaching.
• Postgraduate and additional academic qualifications will be favourably considered.


Personal & Professional qualities 

• Flexible, enthusiastic and conscientious.
• Demonstrated subject content knowledge and at least two (2) years teaching experience.
• Experience in the teaching of English as an Additional Language.
• Understanding of, and experience in delivering one of the following curriculums – VCE, IB, SACEi, A-Levels.
• Adventurous and adaptablue - open to live in a foreign country for an extended period and embrace the challenges and ambiguities that it may bring.
• Eligible to be granted a work visa and residency permit for China.
• Ability to form a rapport with students and build collaborative working relationships.
• Good verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.
• Bilingual Mandarin/English an advantage but not necessary.
• Sensitivity to the requirements of working in an international setting with a number of non-English speaking families and colleagues.
• Take an active interest in personal and professional development
• Reflect on teaching practice, set goals and engage in sharing with and, learning from others.
